Many of our members are involved with local charities and community groups. Our monthly meetings always include a raffle with the money raised going to a charity. We choose a new charity every three months. In the last 12 months we’ve supported Mercy in Action, Willen Hospice, Dogs for Good, and Autism Early Support.
Our members support local charities by getting involved with their fundraising events. Recently some of our fabulous Belles took part in the Midnight Moo, raising money for Willen Hospice. The final total was an amooozing £4035.50!
We also supported the Sherington Event to mark the 80th anniversary of the Second World War- Victory in Europe (VE) Day, 8th May 1945, with a cake stall and a tombola and raised £450.
The Sherington Belles WI particiate in this countywide scheme to support statutory agencies prepare for, and respond to, major incidents and emergencies.
The WI will help provide practical support and welfare to those affected, calling upon our resources and organisational skills.
This is a relatively new group of volunteers, some of whom work or have worked in those agencies. Anyone who is interested in being involved can join the contact list.
